Flyfishing Courses

Learning to fish could not be easier – simply book on one of our one-day Beginner’s Courses which run throughout the season. These courses are equally suitable for complete beginners or those with a little experience who want to improve and group size is usually no more than six . A friendly qualified instructor will begin the day introducing you to all of the basic elements of the sport from tackle, flies and fish behaviour to entomology and ethics! As the day progresses, practical casting takes place and in the afternoon the group is taken to a suitable section of bank to further their experiences. All tackle is provided but course members should dress appropriately for the weather and bring hat and eye protection.

Course participants receive discounted tackle prices in the Fishing Lodge and a free day permit both valid for five weeks from the date of course.

Qualified instructors are available for private tuition in boats or on the bank for individuals or groups and junior ‘taster’ days take place each season. Please note fishing tuition not available on Sundays throughout August or Bank Holiday Monday
